In a significant development following India’s Operation Sindoor, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has called for a global campaign against The Resistance Front (TRF), a Pakistan-based militant group linked to Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Owaisi’s remarks came after an all-party meeting convened by the Indian government to discuss the operation’s objectives and outcomes.

Operation Sindoor: A Retaliatory Strike

Operation Sindoor was launched by India in response to the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. The Indian Armed Forces conducted missile strikes targeting nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), including facilities associated with LeT and JeM. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed the all-party meeting, stating that the strikes had resulted in the elimination of at least 100 terrorists .

Owaisi’s Call for Global Action

During the meeting, Owaisi commended the government’s decision to name the operation “Sindoor,” recognizing it as a tribute to the sacrifices made by Indian security forces. He emphasized the need for a global campaign against TRF, advocating for its designation as a terrorist organization by the United States. Additionally, Owaisi suggested that India should push for Pakistan’s re-inclusion in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) grey list due to its alleged support for cross-border terrorism .

Opposition’s Support

Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi expressed their support for the government’s actions, stating that the opposition stands united in the fight against terrorism. They acknowledged the government’s briefing on the operation and assured their cooperation in national security matters.

Pakistan’s Response

In retaliation, Pakistan claimed that Indian airstrikes had resulted in civilian casualties and damage to religious sites. Pakistan’s military asserted that it had downed five Indian Air Force jets during the conflict. The situation has led to heightened tensions between the two nations, with both sides taking measures to safeguard their interests.

Conclusion

As India continues to address the challenges posed by cross-border terrorism, Owaisi’s call for international action underscores the need for a concerted global effort to combat militant groups operating in the region. The developments following Operation Sindoor highlight the complexities of international relations and the ongoing struggle against terrorism.
