According to a Times of India report cited by Hindustan Times, selectors want Bumrah to play at least one first-class game. An India A fixture is also being considered.
The plan comes after Bumrah’s recent knee injury concerns. He was ruled out of India’s Test series against Sri Lanka after failing to recover fully.
Selectors want a red-ball test
The reported plan is designed to assess Bumrah’s ability to handle a longer workload. A first-class match would provide a more realistic test than regular training.
The selectors are reportedly keen to avoid rushing him into Test cricket. His fitness will remain central to India’s planning for New Zealand.

New Zealand Tests begin in November

That schedule gives India some time to assess Bumrah before the Test matches. However, his workload will likely be monitored closely.
