Kolkata Rape and Murder Case: Woman Found Dead on August 9, Allegedly Victim of Civic Volunteer Sanjay Roy

The tragic incident occurred on the morning of August 9, when a woman was discovered dead. She was reportedly raped and murdered by a civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) intends to conduct polygraph tests on four employees from RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, including three junior doctors. This step is aimed at determining their involvement in the rape and murder of a trainee doctor.
The woman was found a dead on the morning of August 9th. She had been raped and murdered, with accusations implicating a civic volunteer named Sanjay Roy as the suspect. According to reports and CCTV footage, Sanjay Roy entered the seminar hall, where the victim was sleeping during her 36-hour rest, at 4 a.m. He exited the hall at 4:40 a.m

Sanjay Roy later went home after leaving the seminar hall.

The police arrested him based on the CCTV footage. In addition, polygraph tests will be administered to two first-year postgraduate trainee doctors, whose fingerprints were discovered inside the seminar room, according to India Today. These two PG doctors had dined with the woman before she went to rest in the seminar room.

An intern will also face a polygraph test, as he had a conversation with the woman in the seminar room before leaving. After his departure, the woman went back to sleep.

A house staff member will also undergo a polygraph test, as the worker was seen traveling from the first-floor emergency room to the third floor. Reports indicate that the staff member was on the third floor from 2:45 a.m. to 3:45 a.m. None of the four individuals involved reported hearing any noises from the seminar room.

Authorities have also secured permission to administer a lie-detector test to Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the principal of RG Kar Medical College, who resigned two days after the incident.

The Supreme Court has reprimanded Dr. Ghosh and the West Bengal police for delaying the filing of the murder FIR by 14 hours. The court also criticized Ghosh for attempting to misrepresent the murder as a suicide.
