Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Takes Oath: Promises ‘Change, Not Revenge’ and Stability | Exclusive in Dial24news

Newly sworn-in Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has pledged to deliver a stable government for the next five years. Speaking to the media on Thursday evening, Fadnavis, now serving his third term as CM, assured the people of Maharashtra that his leadership would prioritize progress and stability. He emphasized a commitment to “politics of change, not revenge,” signaling a focus on governance and development

After the Maharashtra assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Shiv Sena alliance fractured, paving the way for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, formed by the Shiv Sena, NCP, and Congress. In 2022, a rebellion led by Eknath Shinde split the Shiv Sena, resulting in the fall of the MVA government. Shinde then joined forces with the BJP and assumed the role of chief minister. Following the recent Maharashtra elections, Devendra Fadnavis made a comeback as the chief minister on December 5.

Devendra Fadnavis emphasized that the new Mahayuti government would prioritize being people-centric, ensuring transparency, and driving Maharashtra’s development at a rapid pace.

Addressing the issue of the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Maharashtra assembly, where the Maha Vikas Aghadi has fewer than 50 members in the 288-seat house, Fadnavis clarified that the decision rests with the newly appointed speaker, not the government.

He drew a parallel to the Lok Sabha, noting that when the main opposition party lacked sufficient numbers for the LoP position, the leader of the largest opposition party was granted the required powers.
