Malicious Lies”: PM Modi Hits Back at Opposition Over Amit Shah’s Comments on BR Ambedkar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday hit back at the opposition’s protest over Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks on BR Ambedkar in the Rajya Sabha, accusing the Congress of using “dirty tricks” to erase the legacy of the Dalit icon. In a post on X, he stated, “If the Congress and its corrupt ecosystem believe their malicious lies can conceal their long-standing misdeeds, especially their insult towards Dr. Ambedkar, they are gravely mistaken.” Modi went on to say, “The people of India have repeatedly witnessed how one party, led by one dynasty, has used every tactic to undermine Dr.
Ambedkar’s legacy and humiliate SC/ST communities.” He also accused the Congress of denying Ambedkar the Bharat Ratna, highlighting several alleged wrongdoings, including getting Ambedkar defeated in elections twice, with Jawaharlal Nehru campaigning against him and turning his defeat into a matter of prestige. “The Congress’ list of sins against Dr. Ambedkar includes: denying him a Bharat Ratna, refusing to place his portrait in the Parliament’s Central Hall, and ignoring his contributions,” Modi wrote.
He further emphasized, “Congress may try all they want, but they can’t deny that the worst massacres against SC/ST communities occurred during their rule. Despite being in power for years, they did nothing significant to empower these communities.”
