Three familiar names have been re-nominated by the AAP: Manish Sisodia and Rakhi Birla, both current MLAs, alongside Deepu Chaudhary, a former candidate who lost in the previous election.

The Congress, which held power in Delhi for 15 consecutive years, has struggled in the last two assembly elections, failing to win any seats.

The Delhi Assembly elections are expected to take place in early 2025.. In the 2020 assembly polls, the AAP secured 62 out of the 70 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party won 8 seats.

Kejriwal Confirms AAP’s Independent Run in Delhi Elections, Rejects Congress Coalition Talks

On December 7, Devendra Yadav, president of the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee, criticized the AAP and Arvind Kejriwal, blaming them for the “deteriorating” law and order situation in the national capital.

Yadav also demanded that Kejriwal ask for the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, similar to how he called for the resignation of former CM Sheila Dikshit during the Nirbhaya case. The Delhi Congress president further alleged that women are bearing the brunt of rising crimes, including gang wars, shootings, murders, rapes, harassment, and snatching incidents.
