Centre Trying to Suppress Opposition Moves’: Congress
Congress MP KC Venugopal also criticized the Centre, stating, “The government is displaying a bulldozing attitude to suppress the Opposition. Yesterday, a member made derogatory remarks against the Leader of the Opposition and another Congress member within the House.”
Venugopal further noted, “Outside Parliament, another member made offensive comments. The Congress party has filed a privilege motion against both leaders. Yet, while we are raising complaints about such remarks, the same member was allowed to repeat their actions today. The Speaker is clearly under immense pressure from the government.
BJP Leaders’ Remarks on Rahul Gandhi
On Thursday, a heated exchange took place during Zero Hour between BJP MP Nishikant Dubey and Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi.
Dubey raised questions about Rahul Gandhi’s meetings in the US, stating, “I have 10 questions for the Leader of the Opposition. What is your relationship with Salil Shetty of the Open Society Foundation, who participated in the Bharat Jodo Movement? Did he fund the movement? Rahul Gandhi also met Mushfiqul Fazal in the US, who is linked to the genocide in Bangladesh.”
Dubey further alleged, “Rahul Gandhi met Ilhan Omar, Ro Khanna, and Barbara Lee—individuals who opposed PM Modi’s US program. He met those advocating for Khalistan and Kashmir’s separation. What are your connections with them?”
