GATE 2026 Exam Tomorrow: IIT Issues Important Exam-Day Guidelines for Candidates

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) is all set to conduct the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 tomorrow. With the exam just a day away, the organizing IIT has released important GATE 2026 exam-day guidelines that candidates must follow to avoid any last-minute issues at the examination center.

GATE 2026 Exam Date and Mode

The GATE 2026 examination will be conducted in computer-based test (CBT) mode across multiple centers in India. Candidates are advised to carefully read all instructions displayed on the computer screen before starting the exam.

Reporting Time and Entry Rules

As per official instructions, candidates should reach their allotted GATE exam center’s well before the reporting time mentioned on the admit card. Entry inside the examination hall will be allowed only during the specified time window. Candidates arriving late may not be permitted to appear for the exam.

Documents Required at GATE Exam Centre:

Candidates must carry the following documents to the examination center:

Printed copy of GATE 2026 Admit Card

A valid photo identity proof, such as:

Aadhaar Card

Passport

Voter ID

Driving License

Failure to produce these documents will result in denial of entry.

Items Prohibited Inside Exam Hall

The IIT has strictly banned electronic devices and study materials inside the exam center. Prohibited items include:

Mobile phones

Smartwatches

Calculators

Bluetooth devices

Notes or printed material

Rough sheets for calculations will be provided at the center and must be returned after the exam.

Unfair Practices and Disqualification

Candidates are warned against indulging in any form of unfair means or misconduct. Any violation of GATE exam rules may lead to immediate disqualification and cancellation of candidature.

About GATE Examination

The GATE exam is a national-level entrance test conducted annually for admission to postgraduate programmers such as M.Tech, M.E, and PhD in premier engineering institutes. GATE scores are also used by several Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for recruitment purposes. Lakhs of candidates appear for the exam every year.
