During the boarding process of IndiGo flight 6E3074 from Kolkata to Shillong, crew members discovered a handwritten note in the aircraft’s toilet compartment claiming that a bomb was on board. Following the discovery, all passengers were immediately deboarded, and the plane was moved to an isolation bay for security procedures.
“The flight, scheduled to depart at 9:15 AM, was shifted to the isolation area after a bomb threat note was found during boarding. Passengers were evacuated promptly, and security checks are currently underway,” the airport director confirmed. As of 12 PM, authorities continue to inspect the aircraft thoroughly, and further updates are awaited.
A similar threat was reported last month, on January 23, when IndiGo flight 6E 2608, operating from Delhi to Pune, received a bomb warning upon arrival. Crew members discovered a handwritten note in the aircraft’s lavatory claiming the presence of an explosive device.
The flight landed safely at Pune Airport, and all passengers were evacuated without incident. Originally scheduled to arrive at 8:40 PM, the aircraft touched down at 9:24 PM and was parked at Bay No. 3 by 9:27 PM. Upon notification, Air Traffic Control (ATC) immediately informed Apron Control, which then alerted all relevant security agencies.
The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was convened, and the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay for safety. Following standard procedures, the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft before clearing it for further operations.
No suspicious or adverse findings were detected during the security checks.
Upon completion of the procedures, the aircraft was cleared and released for normal operations. The situation was handled in a coordinated and timely manner, and no further incident was reported.
