Paresh Rawal Recalls Nana Patekar’s Bold Feat: Demanding ₹1 Crore Fee

In a recent interview with Lallantop, veteran actor Paresh Rawal shared an intriguing anecdote about his co-star Nana Patekar, highlighting Nana’s audacity and confidence in the film industry. Rawal recounted how Nana, known for his powerful performances, once demanded a fee of ₹1 crore for a film—a sum that left the industry astounded, especially considering Nana’s status as a character actor.

Rawal expressed his admiration for Nana’s boldness, stating, “I salute the man who shook the film industry by demanding ₹1 crore… Nana Patekar did that years ago. We were so happy that someone had the courage to ask for such an amount.” This incident marked a significant moment in Bollywood, challenging the conventional norms regarding actor remuneration.

Further illustrating Nana’s unique personality, Rawal shared another story:

“There is a producer, I won’t take the name. Nana told him – come home. He asked, ‘Do you eat mutton?’ He ate. Nana said – ‘You ate, right? Now go clean the dishes.’ This is Nana Patekar — Baap hai voh.”

This anecdote showcases Nana’s distinctive approach to asserting his authority and his straightforward demeanor.

Nana Patekar’s last film appearance was in the 2024 release Vanvaas, directed by Anil Sharma. Despite receiving positive reviews, the film underperformed at the box office. As of now, Nana has not announced his next project.

On the other hand, Paresh Rawal continues to be active in the film industry. He is set to reunite with Akshay Kumar in the upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, which also stars Tabu. Additionally, Rawal is part of the ensemble cast of Welcome to the Jungle, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Disha Patani, Raveena Tandon, Arshad Warsi, and Suniel Shetty. He is also expected to reprise his iconic role as Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in Hera Pheri 3.
