Virat Kohli shuts down Yuvraj Singh, Amit Mishra’s ‘fame changed him’ remarks: ‘I’ve never treated anyone differently because of success’
Virat Kohli has addressed recent comments from former teammates Amit Mishra and Yuvraj Singh, who suggested that fame and captaincy had altered his personality. In a recent episode of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) podcast, Kohli responded to questions about his evolving friendships and whether he remained the same person over time. He shared that he recently reconnected with former Under-19 teammates Tanmay Srivastava and Ajitesh Argal, both now IPL umpires, and met Yomahesh in Chennai. Kohli emphasized that despite his success, he has always treated people consistently, stating, “I’ve never behaved differently with them because I don’t feel differently myself.” He added, “I’m pretty much the same with everyone I meet. Things stay exactly the same.”
These remarks subtly counter the assertions made by Mishra and Yuvraj Singh. Mishra had previously commented that Kohli’s rise to fame and power led him to become less approachable, noting a “huge difference” between the young “Cheeku” he knew and the current captain. He mentioned that their communication had diminished over time, attributing this change to Kohli’s elevated status. Yuvraj Singh had expressed similar sentiments, stating that the bond they once shared had changed as Kohli’s career progressed.
