16-Year-Old Gang-Rape Case: Greater Noida-Delhi Bus Driver, Conductor Held

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped inside a sleeper bus from Greater Noida to Delhi. Police arrested the driver and conductor.

A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving sleeper bus in Greater Noida. Delhi Police have arrested the driver and conductor in connection with the case.

The incident took place on August 4 after the teenager mistakenly got off at Pari Chowk during heavy rain. She was travelling from Mainpuri to Noida to meet her cousin.

Teenager boarded bus after seeking help

According to police, the girl sought help after getting off at the wrong location. The bus had no other passengers when she boarded it.

Police said the driver and conductor allegedly told her the bus was heading towards Noida Sector 63. Instead, the vehicle travelled towards Delhi.

The bus covered about 47 kilometres from Pari Chowk to the Kashmere Gate area. The teenager was later abandoned near Kashmere Gate, police said.

Driver and conductor arrested

Police identified the accused as driver Kuldeep and conductor Sandeep. Both men were arrested from a parking area in Timarpur, Delhi.

The survivor alleged that the two men sexually assaulted her and threatened her when she resisted. Police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the POCSO Act.

The sleeper bus has also been seized for forensic examination. Investigators are examining CCTV footage and other evidence connected with the journey.

Jurisdiction dispute between Delhi and UP Police

The arrests have also led to a jurisdiction dispute between Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Police. UP Police have questioned why Delhi Police did not inform them earlier.

The alleged assault occurred in the Gautam Buddh Nagar commissionerate area. The bus later entered Delhi, where the teenager was abandoned.

The investigation remains underway. Authorities are examining the evidence before determining further legal action.

Teenager reportedly boarded bus after getting lost

According to the police investigation, the teenager had travelled from Mainpuri and was heading towards Noida. She reportedly got off at Pari Chowk after becoming confused during heavy rain.

The girl then sought help and boarded a sleeper bus. Police said she believed the bus would take her towards Noida Sector 63.

The bus, however, allegedly travelled in the direction of Delhi. Investigators are now examining the complete route taken by the vehicle.

Alleged assault inside the sleeper bus

Police said the teenager was the only passenger inside the bus at the time. The driver and conductor were allegedly present when the bus continued towards Delhi.

According to the complaint, the teenager alleged that the two men sexually assaulted her during the journey. She also alleged that she was threatened when she resisted.

The survivor was later allegedly left near the Kashmere Gate area in Delhi. Police subsequently began tracing the bus and identifying the people involved.

The case involves a minor, so authorities have not disclosed details that could reveal her identity.

Two accused arrested by police

The accused were identified as the driver and conductor of the bus. Police arrested both men from Delhi during the investigation.

Investigators are questioning the accused and checking their movements before and after the alleged incident. Police are also examining evidence collected from the bus.

The vehicle has reportedly been taken into police custody for forensic examination. Investigators are checking whether physical or other evidence can help establish what happened during the journey.
