“Decide Whether You Want to Be Part of Geography or History”: Indian Army Chief’s Stern Warning to Pakistan
Army Chief Upendra Dwivedi Issues Strong Warning to Pakistan Over Terror Support
Upendra Dwivedi delivered a sharp warning to Pakistan on Saturday, stating that Islamabad must decide “whether it wants to remain part of geography or become part of history” if it continues to harbour terrorists operating against India.
The Indian Army chief made the remark during an interactive session at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi while responding to a question regarding India’s military response to future terror threats similar to those that led to Operation Sindoor.
General Dwivedi said that if Pakistan continued supporting anti-India terror activities, New Delhi would not hesitate to take decisive action. His comments are being viewed as one of the strongest public military warnings issued by India in recent months.
The statement comes shortly after India marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, the military operation launched following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in 2025. During the operation, Indian forces reportedly targeted terror infrastructure across the border.
India Reiterates Zero-Tolerance Policy on Terrorism
The Army chief’s comments reinforced India’s long-standing position against cross-border terrorism. Defence analysts believe the remarks were aimed at sending a direct strategic signal to Pakistan amid rising regional tensions.
General Dwivedi’s statement also echoed earlier comments made by Rajnath Singh, who had previously warned Pakistan that any hostile action against India would trigger consequences affecting its “history and geography.”
Latest Developments in India-Pakistan Tensions
- India recently commemorated one year of Operation Sindoor.
- Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir had earlier warned India against any future “misadventure.”
- Former Indian Army chief Manoj Mukund Naravane recently backed dialogue and people-to-people engagement between India and Pakistan despite ongoing tensions.
- Security concerns continue to dominate diplomatic relations between both countries.
Political and Strategic Impact
The Army chief’s statement has sparked widespread debate in political and strategic circles. Supporters praised the strong stance on national security, while opposition leaders questioned whether diplomatic channels with Pakistan should remain open alongside military deterrence.
Experts believe the warning signals India’s readiness to respond aggressively to any future terror attack linked to cross-border groups.
