Able Kanya Gurukul – A Home and Hope for Underprivileged Girls
ABLE Kanya Gurukul: A Lifeline for Homeless Girls, Building Futures Through Care and Education
In a world where millions of children continue to struggle for basic rights and protection, ABLE Kanya Gurukul has emerged as a beacon of hope for homeless and destitute girls in India. The initiative is not just a shelter, but a nurturing space where young girls are given the opportunity to rebuild their lives with dignity, security, and purpose.
Recognizing that every girl child holds immense potential and plays
a crucial role in shaping future generations, the Gurukul provides long-term residential support. Here, girls are cared for until they become financially independent, ensuring they are equipped with the confidence and skills needed to lead a self-reliant life.
From a Small Beginning to a Growing Mission
The journey of ABLE Kanya Gurukul began on June 6, 2017, with just five girls. Over the years, the initiative has grown steadily and now serves as a home for around 30 girls. This remarkable expansion reflects the organization’s commitment to addressing a critical social issue.
Located in the Palwal district of Haryana, near the Behrola Village flyover on NH2, the Gurukul provides a safe and structured environment for girls who otherwise have no secure place to live. Its peaceful setting allows residents to focus on their education and personal development without fear or uncertainty.
Education and Skill Development at the Core
Education remains a central pillar of ABLE Kanya Gurukul’s mission. The institution is affiliated with the Haryana Board of School Education, Bhiwani, ensuring access to formal and quality schooling for all its residents.
Beyond academics, the Gurukul emphasizes holistic development. Girls are trained in fine arts and encouraged to explore their talents and creativity. Looking ahead, the organization plans to introduce job-oriented and skill-based training programs, enabling the girls to secure employment and build independent futures.
Tackling a Growing Social Challenge
India is home to millions of orphaned and abandoned children, many of whom face severe risks such as poverty, child labor, and human trafficking. A large proportion of these children come from economically and socially marginalized backgrounds, making them highly vulnerable.
Girls, in particular, face heightened risks of exploitation and trafficking. In states like Haryana, where gender imbalance remains a serious concern, these challenges are even more critical. The shortage of female population has also contributed to issues like forced migration and trafficking of girls from poorer regions.
In this context, ABLE Kanya Gurukul plays a vital role by offering not just protection but empowerment. By providing a safe environment, education, and life skills, the institution is helping transform vulnerable lives into stories of resilience and success.
A Vision for a Brighter Tomorrow
ABLE Kanya Gurukul is more than an institution—it is a movement dedicated to restoring hope and dignity to young girls who have faced adversity. With its growing reach and future plans for skill development, the Gurukul aims to create a generation of confident, independent, and empowered women.
As the initiative continues to expand, it stands as a powerful reminder that with the right support and opportunities, every girl child can rise above challenges and shape a brighter future—not just for herself, but for society as a whole.
